Abstract

Water is the source of life for every living thing on earth. Humans need water resources to be used for their daily needs and other needs. The increasing population will increase the demand for water. The hope is that when the population increases, the fulfillment of water needs will not experience problems in its management and development. But nature has other plans, the increasing population is felt by some people to find it very difficult to get clean water suitable for consumption. This is evidenced by the many complaints experienced by the people living in the Kencana Raya Cikunir housing complex, Tasikmalaya.

This study aims to determine the quality of clean water produced by PDAM Sukapura Tasikmalaya and the quantity consumed by the Kencana Raya Cikunir housing community in a certain period of time. The method used in this study is descriptive analytic with an experimental strategy in the form of direct water quality testing and analysis of water meter data in determining the quantity of water. The results of the analysis show that the quality of the water consumed by the Kencana Raya Cikunir housing community is fit for drinking with an experimental TSS value of 300 mg/lt and 105 mg/lt laboratory test results. With a pH concentration of 8 with universal test paper reference and 6.91 using the APHA – 4500 – H*B method. However, water still contains calcium hypochlorite which is quite high. In terms of water quantity, the total amount of distributed water is 692.67 m3 per month with an average water requirement per person of 168.30 l/day/person, with a difference of 24.3 l, greater than that stated by the Directorate General of Cipta Karya.
