Abstract

The road is one of the main ground connections that has the basic function of providing optimal service to traffic flows. The highway was chosen as the location of the research because of the high traffic congestion caused by the high activity on the side of the road, such as the number of vehicles that stop lifting and dropping goods, parking on the body of the street, pedestrians, vehicles that enter, slow vehicles and market activity. The purpose of this research is to find out the traffic volume and road capacity on the highway katapang andir (jalan raya pasar rancamanyar) and the impact of side barriers on the road performance. The method used is the quantitative method, which is the process of finding knowledge using data in the form of numbers as a tool to analyze what you want to know. The type of method that is used is using the survey method. The survey is done with direct observation in the field to obtain data as a reference for conducting analysis. The results of this study indicate that the road capacity is 1,398.8 skr / hour and the peak volume of vehicles is on Monday Morning at 07.00-08.00 WIB of 1187.7 Skr / hour, with a degree of saturation of 0.85 with the level of service included in category E (Flow is close to unstable with traffic volumes approaching road capacity and speeds of at least 30 (thirty) kilometers per hour on inter-city roads and at least 10 (ten) kilometers per hour on urban roads. Traffic density is high because internal traffic resistance is high. Drivers begin to experience short-duration bottlenecks Steady flow, but speed and vehicle motion are controlled, drivers are restricted in their choice of speed).
