Kota Tangerang merupakan kota yang menjadi salah satu daerah penopang Ibu Kota yang mengalami pencemaran dan lingkungan hidup yang parah akibat pesatnya urbanisasi, aktivitas industri, banyaknya kendaraan listrik, dan rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap lingkungan. Dengan memanfaatkan teknologi dan inovasi untuk menciptakan kota yang lebih cerdas, berkelanjutan, dan hijau, konsep lingkungan kota pintar dapat memberikan solusi efektif terhadap permasalahan lingkungan. Smart city merupakan sebuah konsep yang diterapkan secara global, termasuk di kota Tangerang, Indonesia. Kombinasi antara perkembangan teknologi dengan infrastruktur perkotaan adalah upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup warga, meningkatkan efektivitas layanan publik, dan mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi yang berkelanjutan. Terdapat perkembangan penelitian yang signifikan mengenai penerapan smart environment city, termasuk inovasi dalam pemerintahan, tetapi masih sangat sedikit penelitian mengenai penerapan smart environment city dan upaya peningkatan kelestarian lingkungan. Studi ini menekankan pentingnya peran pemerintah terutama dalam kebijakan untuk memitigasi dampak negatif pembangunan perkotaan di Kota Tangerang terhadap lingkungan
